The problem? It wasn’t too sexy. It was too sexist.
At least according to Montreal officials, who banned PETA and its clothes-averse postergal from erecting a billboard in a city square this week by rejecting PETA’s request for a permit.
“I have to inform you that we, as public officials representing a municipal government, cannot endorse this image of Ms. Anderson,” City Commissioner Josee Buzzkill Rochefort wrote to the vegetarian activists.
“It is not so much controversial as it goes against all principles public organizations are fighting for in the everlasting battle of equality between men and women. We therefore will not give you a permit to hold your event on Place Jacques-Cartier.”
Nevermind, incidentally, that the Place J-C is well within eye-shot of the city’s infamous strip club row.
