Haynesworth has returned to the area to prepare for the opening of training camp today, and is optimistic about his situation in Washington for the first time in months.
The source said Haynesworth told him he is coming to work and understands he will have to play nose tackle at times in the Redskins’ new 3-4 defense.
The team fined Haynesworth $10,000 for his absence from the mandatory minicamp and again for missing a scheduled physical, according to two sources familiar with the disciplinary action. The Redskins reportedly plan to try to recoup some of the $26 million in bonus money Haynesworth has received in the first 17 months of his contract (he has been paid $32 million total), but they have not done so yet.
Young will not be suspended
The NFL is not going to suspend Titans quarterback Vince Young for his involvement in a Dallas strip club altercation last month, according to The Tennessean.
