Washington DC Adult Entertainment: Justice delayed in the chilling story of the Yorkshire Ripper

Some stories you never forget. The most chilling I ever covered was the saga of the Yorkshire Ripper, nearly three decades ago in England. The coppers eventually nabbed the serial killer and sent him up for life. But, year after year, a nagging, unsettling detail remained to plague the case and deny its completion.
In the end, that detail came to seem almost as sickening as the main story. Certainly it testified to the deep-down rottenness that lurks in some human souls.
Scene of the crimes was England’s gritty industrial north. Leeds, Bradford, Sunderland, Manchester were the hunting grounds of Peter Sutcliffe, a long-distance truck driver in his 30s who otherwise lived quietly with his wife in Bradford.
Most of the 13 victims were prostitutes. Sutcliffe would drive them to deserted areas, strike a hammer blow to the head, then mutilate the corpses with a knife.
