Google Street View employs a fleet of vehicles equipped with rooftop cameras. The photos are pieced together to give a panoramic, street-level view from a height of about 8 feet. The cars have produced maps of most U.S. cities, including Columbia.
The images had earlier raised the hackles of privacy advocates when photos surfaced of sunbathers, men at adult businesses and people in other candid moments. Google responded by blurring faces.
