A Bladensburg man pleaded guilty last week to charges stemming from attacks on four women he had met on Craiglist.
Edgar D. Romero, 24, faced two counts of first-degree sexual abuse while armed, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of robbery while armed, each count involving a different victim, according to the District of Columbia United States Attorney’s Office.
Romero pleaded guilty Friday to the four counts in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and could face a sentence of 30 years in jail, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Between Dec. 12, 2008, and Feb. 20, 2009, Romero contacted the women through advertisements in the “erotic services” section of the Craigslist website. Craigslist, facing criticism from U.S. attorneys general for enabling prostitution, shut down that portion of its website Sept. 4.
