Police raided three acupuncture and massage parlors in Greenbelt on Friday that investigators believe were being used as brothels, authorities said.
Police said the parlors in the 7700 block of Belle Pointe Drive, the 7300 block Hanover Parkway and the 7500 block of Greenway Center Drive had been raided last year, but the businesses apparently kept allowing customers to pay for sex acts. They said investigators seized cash and were working to compile criminal charges.

The Greenbelt Police Department and members of the Metropolitan Area Drug Task Force (MADTF) raided three suspected brothels Friday that were operating under the guise of acupuncture and massage parlors, according to a press release by the Greenbelt Police.
Search and seizure warrants were served today, which were obtained after an ongoing investigation revealed sex acts were being performed inside the businesses in exchange for money.
Two of the businesses had been raided by MADTF and the Greenbelt Police last summer, but had resumed their illegal operations, according to police. One was an acupuncture health facility, operating from a business complex at 7335 Hanover Parkway, Suite C & D, in Greenbelt, police said.The other was Rising Sun Massage, located at 7743 Belle Pointe Drive in Greenbelt, according to police.This time police said they also raided a third location at and 7525 Greenway Center Drive, Suite 116, in Greenbelt, Prince George’s County, Maryland. Currency was seized and charges are pending in these cases, police said.

Authorities say the charges come following an investigation into alleged prostitution brothels operating in Montgomery County under the guise of acupressure and massage establishments. Police cited citizen complaints about the businesses, and a large increase in the number of acupressure and massage parlor advertisements in the adult section of internet sites.
The investigation revealed that several businesses were using illegal fronts for human trafficking, according to police. While wiretapping is normally prohibited in Maryland, police said detectives were able to use a new Maryland law that allows an exception for human trafficking cases.

Montgomery County police began investigating several massage parlors in September after noticing an increase of acupressure and massage parlor advertisements in the adult sections of websites that cater to adults services, and after receiving several complaints from the public about these businesses.

ROCKVILLE, MD (CBSDC) – An investigation that began in September culminated with Montgomery County Police charging four people with running illegal brothels out of massage parlors in Rockville.
Police say the parlors were fronts for prostitution and human trafficking.
The investigation began after police noted a dramatic increase in the number of acupressure and massage parlor advertisements being placed on adult services websites. Authorities also received a number of complaints from citizens about the true nature of the businesses.
In a press release, police said the parlors had become “havens for human trafficking schemes and were exploiting the most vulnerable women as tools for profit.”

Tropical Spa, 620 Hungerford Drive, Suite 16. Howard Hao Wang, 48, of the 19100 block of Forest Brook Road in Germantown, is charged with human trafficking and conducting prostitution. Wang also operates Best Massage, at 966 Hungerford Dr, Suite 11A, according to the release.
Pink Spa, 932 Hungerford Drive, Suite 12A. Roberto Carrasco, 47, of the 1500 block of North Pierce St. in Arlington, Va., is charged with conducting prostitution.
Ya Ya Spa, 751 Rockville Pike, Suite 1B, Rockville. Feng Liu, 46, of the 100 block of Orchard Drive in Gaithersburg, is charged with human trafficking and conducting prostitution.

Four Rockville massage parlor operators have been charged with using their businesses as fronts to conduct prostitution or human trafficking, according to Montgomery County Police.
The investigation was launched in September after authorities noticed an increase in advertisements for acupressure businesses and massage parlors on websites, Montgomery County Police said. Police said they conducted searches of six Rockville businesses and filed charges against operators of four of those establishments.
Mauricio Alex Garcia Guardia, operator of Executive Body Work, was charged in a warrant with human trafficking and conducting prostitution, police said. Feng Liu, operator of YaYa Spa, and Howard Hao Wang, operator of Tropical Spa, each are charged with human trafficking and conducting prostitution. And Pink Spa owner Roberto Carrasco has been charged with conducting prostitution.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspects or businesses to call 240-773-5958.
